Let’s do this thing

The months of June and July were beautiful in the Yarra Valley and it was a privilege to have shared the peace and seclusion of Kangaroo Ridge Retreat with a small number of guests in the in-betweeny time. We were relatively lucky to have been able to offer a small hidden spot after the initial lockdown; many small businesses in the Yarra Valley were unable to welcome anyone during June.

Firstly and foremost, we want thank all of our guests who have supported us during these rough times. Thank you for coming to stay, being brave to book in advance and letting us work with you so we can still welcome you after this round of lock down finishes. Thank you for coming and supporting the small businesses in the area. It was busy and we are delighted to have enabled you to have a relaxing and wonderful time.

We’ve been practicing isolation since before it was cool and always had a contact-less check-in. As a result of COVID-19 not much has changed in what you will experience. Most of our COVID-19 protocols are implemented in the background and behind the scenes so you don’t have to sweat the small stuff. Tech solutions you may notice include our smart locks with a keyless entries.

As always, our cabins are set up so you can have a deep Yarra Valley experience while being as socially distant as you want – enjoy boutique wineries and don’t worry about driving or leaving! But, alas, we are also part of metro Melbourne so we are only able to welcome essential travelers again.

But as we slide into this new dip in the corona-coaster we will use this time to reflect further on how we are going to offer an exceptional experience as we live, work and travel in the COVID-19 era.

Living with uncertainty

We are now working and living in a new world where the rules of our social environment and engagements change with a news briefing between 11am and 4pm every other day. Yesterday and today were no exception.

Our commitment to staying small, secluded and locally focused has meant for all our guests, particularly those affected by the now three lockdowns and border closures, we have been in direct contact within 24 hours to discuss the best solution for everyone. Having you to welcome to Kangaroo Ridge Retreat after this lockdown means a lot to us.

As part of our commitment to the well being of our guests and that of our team we continue to offer guests affected by future lockdowns with additional flexibility. We have and will continue to actively help guests find alternative dates for their stay. If we are unable to find a date in the near future, we will give credit for amount of the deposit that is valid for three years – honouring the rates originally booked during the validity period. But please note if you choose to cancel without a government or health directive, our normal cancellation policy will apply.
